It is New Year's Eve. I spent the better part of an evening, washing, blow drying, flat ironing and curling my hair. Why? For no particular reason. I'm not going anywhere. It's so rare that I do my hair that the kids asked if I was going out. NOPE. I just decided it should look nice for a couple hours. It will be puffy by morning and not so straight by the middle of the night :(
I'm still knitting scarves. I knit the kids scarves for Christmas. I gave the girls a drop stitch scarf, it was cute but mostly because it didn't take too much time. I gave R a ribbed scarf. I found both of the scarves on Ravelry. I have to figure out how to put a Rav link here.
Now, on to the rest of my boring night. I think I'll knit a drop stitch scarf for my mom. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift. I'll post pics later. Hopefully I can figure out how to get the pics to come AFTER the text.

Intro to Knitting
I decided to re-try my hand at knitting again in October. I tried a few years before because I ran across the knit a cap, save a life organization. A left handed co-worker made three caps in the process of trying to teach me. I managed to knit about one inch of nothing before I gave up.
I saw the website again recently and thought, perhaps I should give it a try but I gave myself a goal of completing at least one object by the end of the year. I used one of the "I taught myself to knit" packages from Wal-Mart that I purchased the first time around. Then I remembered seeing Ravelry so I decided to join. Someone suggested Debbie Stoler's Stitch N Bitch series, so I borrowed it from my library. I also ordered copies from Amazon. I used YouTube for visuals, that works better for me. There was also knittinghelp.com which was even better.
I made a scarf with some acrylic yarn from Wal-Mart. I wasn't even aware of LYS' before then. Now I know and will have to visit them at some point, and of course the closest one is at least 15 minutes away. I made the "Ribbed for her pleasure" scarf from Stitch N Bitch but I decided to goof around with wide stripes, they look more like blocks.
